Norway’s Kongsberg Group acquires Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine (RRCM).

Completion of acquisition by Kongsberg of Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine has been completed on April 1, 2019. The parties have agreed a value for Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine of GBP 500 million. With this acquisition Kongsberg group becomes a more complete technology supplier. Today, Kongsberg Maritime’s equipment is installed on more than 30,000 vessels worldwide.

Subsea 7 has been awarded two engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contracts from Saudi Aramco. These include three oil production deck manifolds and subsea pipelines in Zuluf field and subsea pipelines in Berri field. Offshore execution is due to start in 2020.

CMHI approved for arctic drilling unit

DNV GL has approved China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) for an arctic single column drilling unit and a wind turbine shuttle. DNV GL said that the certificates confirm that it assessed each of the two designs according to class rules. The arctic single column drilling unit (SCDU) consists of a round floater with an upper and a lower hull, an enclosed deckhouse, and a round footing.

Norway plans new blocks in the Barents Sea

Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Kjell-Borge Freiberg proposes to add 90 new blocks across the Norwegian Continental Shelf. More than half of the proposed blocks are in the Barents Sea. Norway currently has only one producing field in the Barents Sea – Var Energi’s Goliat, with Equinor’s Johan Castberg field expected to be the second in 2022.

The Trump administration is seriously considering new sanctions to stop construction of the proposed Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline. US administration thinks that Nord Stream 2 is a threat to Europe and threatened that if Nord Stream 2 is built, the US will impose sanctions not just on the project, but also on the contractors.

Gazprom completed the final weld that connects the offshore and the nearshore sections of TurkStream, the huge gas pipeline from the Russian coasts of the Black Sea to Turkey. This act marks the finalization of the entire pipeline system in the Black Sea.
