Batteries and tidal for power
In Scotland the world’s first baseload tidal power station has started energy production integrating with Tesla battery storage. Nova’s Tidal Energy Storage System (TESS) demonstrator links tidal power with energy storage. This improves security of supply, reduces carbon emissions and helps the balance of electricity supply and demand. Due to the predictability of the tide and the six-hour generation cycle times integration between the two systems is smooth and ideal. The project is backed by the Scottish government Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme, which is designed to accelerate the development and delivery of low-carbon infrastructure projects across Scotland to cut climate pollution.
