Brian Lade is a Mechanical Engineer who graduated from the University of Toronto in 1975. He is married and lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is a registered professional engineer in Alberta.

Brian joined Syncrude Canada Ltd. directly after university, and has been actively engaged in its growth and development and operations for more than 45 years.  Syncrude is a pioneering producer of Synthetic Crude Oil derived from the Canadian Oil Sands deposits. Brian continues to work as the Senior Technical Specialist – Fixed Equipment; in addition to being part of the Technical Quality Assurance Team, Project Development.

Brian is deeply interested in pressure equipment safety, and served for 9 years as a member and as chair of Alberta’s Pressure Equipment Sub-Council, providing advice on safety programs, certifications and technical standards. He continues to volunteer in support of the Canadian CSA Standard B51 “Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Pressure Piping Code”.
