US warns companies to ‘immediately abandon work’ on Nord Stream 2

The U.S. State Dept. has warned all companies participating in the completion of the controversial gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, to stop immediately works on the project or face sanctions. The US believes the project to be a Russian plan to “divide Europe and weaken European energy security”.
USA said it is monitoring and assessing information about companies doing work on the project. According to a State Dep. Statement, “Any entity involved in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline risks US sanctions and should immediately abandon work on the pipeline.
