Norway plans new blocks in the Barents Sea

Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Kjell-Borge Freiberg proposes to add 90 new blocks across the Norwegian Continental Shelf. More than half of the proposed blocks are in the Barents Sea. Norway currently has only one producing field in the Barents Sea – Var Energi’s Goliat, with Equinor’s Johan Castberg field expected to be the second in 2022.

The Trump administration is seriously considering new sanctions to stop construction of the proposed Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline. Processing platform PIONEERING SPIRIT performed a record lift in the form of hoisting four pieces – the two final platform topsides, a bridge and a flare stack – of the Johan Sverdrup project. The processing platform record lift – nearly 26,000 tonnes – was carried out in only four hours with a clearance of just 25 meters from the rest of the field center.

Eni new contract to TechnipFMC for Merakes gas field

Eni SPA awarded an EPC + transportation and installation contract to TechnipFMC for the Indonesian Merakes field. The contract value is estimated at $ 500 million and covers five wells at 1,500 m WD with 50-km tiebacks to the Jangkrik floating production unit. Eni East Sepinggan Ltd. holds an 85% participating interest in the East Sepinggan PSC.

Goliat field upgrade

Vår Energi, a Norwegian independent E&P company, finalized an agreement with Telenor Maritime to equip the Goliat field in the Barents Sea with 2G and 4G networks. Installation of the equipment would begin in the second quarter of 2019 and the new network will improve safety and emergency response capability in the region.
