Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned oil and gas company, has announced six oil and gas discoveries made in the first quarter of this year.
These discoveries were made in the Touggourt, Berkine, Hassi Messaoud, and Ilizi basins and south of the Hassi R’mel field, currently the largest in the country in the province of Laghouat, highlighting Sonatrach’s enormous efforts in exploration to renew its hydrocarbon reserves. Between 2020 and 2022, the company had already made 35 oil and gas discoveries, one of which was with the Eni group.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the gas supply company “Khududgaztaminot JSC” of Uzbekistan, Bakhodir Eshmuratov, and other Italian companies have signed important agreements aimed at improving gas supply in the Central Asian country and training specialists in the field.
This cooperation will be carried out as part of the implementation of Uzbekistan’s state program to modernize the country’s gas supply system, train personnel in this area, and fully digitize all links in the natural gas supply chain, from gas wells to consumers.

The importance of making Italy the hub of gas for Europe has been emphasized several times.
Even the Minister for Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, wants to reiterate the concept, as the energy emergency in Europe highlighted last year made us understand that we need to improve our supply capacity through pipelines and regasification plants, as well as improve our dissemination capacity in the Mediterranean basin.

Chinese company Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) has become a partner of QatarEnergy in the North Field project in Qatar, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas project.
The agreement was signed by the Energy Minister of Qatar and the President of Sinopec.
Under the agreement, Sinopec will become a shareholder in one of the joint ventures that hold shares in the North Field East project.
This agreement with Sinopec is the first of its kind, following the partnerships announced last year in the project aimed at increasing Qatar’s liquefied natural gas export capacity.
China is the largest customer of Qatar for LNG.

The discovery of natural gas in the Black Sea will begin production and delivery as early as April 20th.
The Sakarya deposit in the Black Sea will begin transmission during this week and will initially produce around 10 million cubic meters per day, reaching 40 million cubic meters per day in three years. Natural gas distribution to households is expected to begin in May.
Turkey currently depends on oil and gas imports from Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Qatar, the United States, Nigeria, and Algeria, but by exploiting this deposit, it could become self-sufficient and alleviate its trade balance.

Eni has signed an agreement for the construction of its second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in the Republic of Congo.
The FLNG facility is in line with Eni’s gas valorisation plan in Congo’s offshore and is part of the Italian company’s efforts to maximize its gas operations in Congo, both for domestic use and for export, to meet the growing energy demand in Europe.
The new FLNG facility will join Export LNG, which Eni acquired from shipping company Exmar in August 2022.

The Xinjiang-Guangdong-Zhejiang SNG onshore pipeline in China is the most important upcoming transmission project in Asia. It is the longest pipeline and is expected to commence operations in 2026.
India and China are witnessing rapid development of midstream infrastructure for imports, transportation, and storage of oil and petroleum products to meet their growing domestic demand.
There will be a total of 402 oil and gas midstream projects planned for Asia between 2023 and 2027.

The British multinational company Shell plans to increase its production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) following disruptions in its facilities last year.
In particular, the oil company estimates LNG volumes for the first quarter of the year to be higher than the previous quarter, with 7-7.4 million tonnes compared to 6.8 million tonnes.
It also anticipates stable gains from this trade and stronger petroleum product performance due to significantly high commercial performance.

The Italian company Saipem has announced that, after a pause in 2021, work will resume on the construction of Mozambique LNG, the natural gas liquefaction plant owned by the French multinational Total.

ENI is also active in the area with the Coral South FLNG project and leads the Rovuma LNG project, which was created for the production, liquefaction, and commercialization of natural gas from three deposits in the Mamba complex, mainly towards European markets. The project includes the construction of an onshore plant for gas treatment, liquefaction, storage, and export of LNG from 24 underwater wells.

The World Bank, which announced in 2017 that it would no longer finance projects related to oil and gas, may, on an exceptional basis, finance projects for the development of natural gas in Mozambique to ensure greater access to energy, provided that it is the most cost-effective source among those available in the African country, to provide access to electricity and export energy to other countries, thereby reducing the share of more polluting sources such as coal.

Attention is mainly focused on the sea, where significant volumes of this resource have been discovered in recent years and exported to Europe.
