YPF Eni Argentina LNG Vaca Muerta Phase 1 FLNG

4 March 2026 Elena News from IVS 2025 160
Introduction

YPF Eni Argentina LNG Vaca Muerta Phase 1 FLNG
Feb. 26 – 2026

The Argentine national oil company (NOC), YPF, is considering the development of Argentina LNG, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production complex located at the Port of Bahía Blanca in Argentina.

YPF Eni Argentina LNG Vaca Muerta Phase 1 FLNG History

Argentina holds the second-largest shale gas reserves in the world, positioning it as a major player in the global energy market.

In recent years, the country has ramped up development efforts to reduce energy imports and become a net gas exporter.

With growing investments in LNG infrastructure and regional pipeline connections, Argentina is actively working to expand gas exports to neighboring countries and global markets.

Vaca Muerta, located in the Neuquén Basin, is one of the world’s largest shale gas and oil fields and serves as a key driver of Argentina’s energy future.

This vast unconventional resource contains an estimated 308 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of technically recoverable shale gas.

Market Study: Example of Valves in Energy projects

20 February 2026 Elena News from IVS 2025 160
Introduction

Valves may be a small equipment in energy projects, but they are critical, high-value, and highly specification-driven.
In this post, we use the example of Valves to present the capacity from our service Project Smart Explorer to evaluate the valve market across energy projects, breaking down demand by project type, region, and application.

Our objective is simple: help manufacturers understand where the next opportunities are and how market dynamics are shifting as energy projects evolve.

Market Drivers for valves

Valves are present in every type of energy projects, from Oil & Gas, to Petrochem, or Decarbonation and Recycling. Valves business opportunities depend on project trends as they are often one of the last package of equipment acquired by procurement team.

Currently the market is globally going up, pursuing the growth started since covid.

One of the main driver being the increasing demand of energy. As the world population is developping, the overall consumption of energy is growing, so are energy projects. The demographic driver for growth of energy is pretty stable and offer good future prospect for the market of valves, beyond 2050.to continue reading click here:

ExxonMobil Eni Mozambique Area 4 Mamba Rovuma LNG Trains 1&2

20 February 2026 Elena News from IVS 2025 162
Introduction

Orginaly driven by Eni and Anadarko, the intend was to call for tender on the base of a competitive FEED in order to save time on the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the project with already the target to ship first LNG to Asia in 2018. Now the project is driven primarely by ExxonMobil.

ExxonMobil Eni Mozambique Area 4 Mamba Rovuma LNG Trains 1&2 History

In the same way as they are studying a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) solution to speed up the development of the offshore part in Mamba , they are now considering to build their own LNG plant in Quionga, close to Tanzania boarder.

In respect with the reserves in places in the Rovuma basin, Mozambique holds enough gas to feed the Afungi LNG Park, Mamba FLNG and an additional Quionga LNG plant, that would secure first LNG shipment for Eni and PetroChina from Mozambique LNG by 2018.

Anyway these offers arrive in a complex context whereas Eni is in discussion with ExxonMobil to farm-out part or all its shares from the Area 4 and the Mamba LNG project.

August 2016

Eni and ExxonMobil signed an agreement by which Eni will sell 25% stake into the onshore LNG project and transfer the operator role to the US major ExxonMobil.

Eni will keep the operator role for the development of its offshore fields. This agreement follows the acquisition by ExxonMobil of three offshore concessions in the south of the Area 4 operated by Eni.

With this agreement ExxonMobil will have the hand on the largest onshore facilities in Mozambique to export LNG to be supplied by the largest resources discovered in East coast of Africa. In this new context, it is likely that this onshore LNG project will be redesigned in order to meet ExxonMobil requirements and accept further expansions.to continue reading click here:

What would a Venezuela oil project look like?

27 January 2026 Elena News from IVS 2025 158
Introduction

For the last 4 years, we have seen the world of energy going from globalization to an era of political energy. More and more the energy map is merging with the political map.
And 2026 started in the same direction with the “kidnapping” of Venezuela president by the USA.

Beyond the political aspect, it rose many questions regarding its impacted on oil projects, given the giant reserves hold by Venezuela.

Venezuela Extra-Heavy crude oil

Extra-heavy crude is the type of oil that makes up the majority of Venezuela’s reserves. It is so viscous that if you pour it into a container and turn it upside down, it won’t flow out. In its natural state, Extra-Heavy crude oil cannot be transported.

Most of Venezuela 300 billion barrels of oil reserves are located in what is called the “Orinoco Belt”, the largest concentration of oil on the planet. Putting Venezuela in front of Saudi Arabia in term of pure reserves of oil.

How to produce oil in Venezuela ?

To produce this kind of oil, the only technology possible is using Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCP). PCPs are screw-type pumps that resemble helical screw compressors but operate at much lower speeds. Their role is to gently lift the oil from the reservoir to the surface.

The main challenge is continuously controlling the rotation speed of these pumps. If the speed is too high, it can create overpressure in the reservoir, potentially causing the well to collapse and allowing oil to mix with surrounding sand. When that happens, the well is permanently lost.to continue reading click here:

WEBINAR: Recap 2025, Forecast 2026

27 January 2026 Elena News from IVS 2025 158

Global energy markets entered a new phase in 2025. Geopolitics, supply security, and economic pressure reshaped energy policies, bringing fossil fuels back to the center of strategic decisions while the energy transition continued to grow without replacing existing demand. Oil & Gas investments regained momentum, global energy consumption kept rising, and political agendas increasingly dictated project development across regions.

As 2026 begins, the industry faces a mixed reality: accelerating project awards, constrained execution capacity, and a transition that is maturing but still far from delivering a full shift in the energy mix. Understanding this landscape requires moving beyond narratives and looking at projects, capital flows, and regional dynamics as they really are.

PILOT LNG GALVESTON LNG BUNKER PORT (GLBP) FLNG

28 October 2025 Elena News from IVS 2025 160

Pilot LNG is a newly established independent company registered in Houston, Texas, purposely created for this Galveston LNG Bunker Port project on the Pelican Island near Galveston on the US Gulf Coast of Texas, USA.

PILOT LNG GALVESTON LNG BUNKER PORT (GLBP) FLNG History
The purpose of the project is to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel to reduce emissions.
On January 2020, a new regulation has become effective to reduce sulfur emissions (SOx) and other emissions (NOx) from the shipping industry.
In addition in USA, the LNG is offering a more competitive fuel than conventional marine heavy fuel.
Pilot LNG completed the pre-front end engineering and design (pre-FEED) and is proceeding with the permitting for the site location on the Pelican Island.
This small-scale FLNG project should include a:

Floating LNG vessel to upload the ships refilling for LNG fuel
Onshore infrastructure to receive the natural gas from the local gas transportation system
Gas connector pipeline to supply the onshore installation.
The FLNG should be equipped with one LNG Train of 0.65 million tonnes per year (t/y)
The onshore infrastructures should host 3 tanks of 18,000 cubic meter.to continue reading click here:
