Total purchases Chevron Denmark

Total SA announced acquisition of all the share capital of Chevron Denmark Inc. This will increase Total’s operated share of DUC to 43.2%. Partners are Royal Dutch Shell PLC, 36.8%, and Danish Nordsofonden, 20%. Since 1972 the consortium operates 15 fields in the Central Graben area of the North Sea. Production in 2017 averaged 182,000 boe/d.

Chevron, PTTEP bid for Thailand.

Chevron Corp. and PTT Exploration & Production were the only companies bidding for the expiring licenses of Thai Bongkot and Erawan natural gas and condensate fields. Chevron bid with Mitsui Oil Exploration for the Erawan license. The current Bongkot license will expire 2023. The Erawan license will expire in 2022.

New Baker Hughes for Turkish complexes

The GE company Baker Hughes has awarded a contract to deliver its Asset Performance Management (APM) software to increase efficiency, productivity, and reliability at SOCAR’s refining and petrochemical complexes in Turkey. SOCAR Turkey Energy AS is the Turkish arm of State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan Republic. The plant chosen for the installation of the new APM software is soon-to-be commissioned 10 million-tonne/year SOCAR Turkey Aegean Refinery (STAR) refinery in Izmir, Aliaga, and Petkim Petrokimya Holding AS’s (Petkim) 3.6 million-tpy nearby petrochemical complex.

How the Electric vehicles will change energy market?

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are very close to a true revolution not only in the transportation world, but in the energy market too. Many analysts imagine in a matter of 10 years a future made by millions of EVs safely, silently and cleanly crossing away highways, city centres and country roads, with happy people at the steering wheel or relaxing courtesy of an auto pilot.
But a big question mark is emerging from this ideal world: when and where will people charge their EVs? What behaviour will we see? What the impact on the energy market?
Surely a big revolution will come in the energy distribution market, because in addition to EVs, large domestic appliances loads in the home will also be programmed to switch on at planned times. These interactions will likely be automated through a home hub system and the pricing of electricity will also need to be dynamic so that as demand increases, prices can cope with it and satisfy the additional demand in very short time.
Probably many problems that EVs cause in the future are actually solved by EVs themselves, through advancement in battery technology and smart use of the network. This may mean having a new electricity market design fit for the future with prices dynamically fluctuating within 15 min., and a constant situation awareness to the grid congestion, down to a local level indeed. The new market will also impact business models across the industry and who can cope more quickly with these will surely win a big prize.

The future of offshore in the Shetland

Over the 2020s, offshore future will be in the Western of Shetland according to many analysts.
This area is under explored, with less than 160 exploration wells drilled in the region to date. A new northern gas hub in the area could potentially unlock a further 300 bcf of discovered gas that is currently stranded. New projects, such as Siccar Point’s Cambo, will add infrastructure serving as a potential export route.

Joint advanced Sino-Russian project for oil recovery

Gazprom Neft and China National Petroleum Corp. will launch a new a new technical partnership based on feasibility study of surfactant flooding of Sutorminskoye oil field in Russia’s Yamal-Nenets. The companies will develop advanced techniques for increasing oil recovery. These are based on studies and experiments that Gazprom Neft claimed as being very successful, as they helped boost recovery to 69% in a depleted area of West Salymskoye field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. These claims are supported by analogue success by CNPC in the Daqing oil field in China.

ENI Zohr reaches 2 bcf/day

Less an year after first gas (December 2017), the ENI Zohr field is now producing 2 bcfd, equivalent to approximately 365,000 boed. This outstanding result was achieved thanks to the start-up of the fifth production unit (T4), backed by the 8 gas producers and a new 30” x 218 km sealine, commissioned last month. ENI and its partner Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) area aiming at 2.7 bcfd in 2019.

Huge giant FPSO sails for Nigeria

The new FPSO Egina built by  Samsung Heavy Industries is on its way to the Egina oil field, offshore Nigeria.
The Total-operated Egina field is about 130 km (81 mi) offshore Nigeria in water depths of 1,500 m (4,921 ft). Production is expected to start later this year. The FPSO Egina is 330 m (1,083 ft) in length, with a storage capacity of 2.3 MMbbl of oil and topsides weighing 60,000 tons. It is expected to produce 200,000 b/d of oil.

Visund Nord onstream in the North Sea

The Visund Nord IOR (improved oil recovery) project in the Norwegian North Sea, is now onstream below budget and two months ahead of schedule. Equinor completed this feat in 21 months from the time the license partners chose the concept until production started. Equinor claims the project will be profitable even with an oil price well below the current level. TechnipFMC provided and installed the new subsea facilities under an EPCI contract, with Odfjell’s semisub Deepsea Atlantic drilling the wells.

New SURF contract for Saipem

Saipem awarded new contracts for the deepwater Liza field development offshore Guyana.
ExxonMobil inaugurated the second phase of the field development, confirming SAIPEM another time. Liza is 200 km (124 mi) offshore in water depths of up to 1,850 m (6,069 ft). The second phase of the development will produce around 220,000 b/d.
Moreover, Saipem has secured a new $700-million offshore E&C contract in the Republic of Congo for a maintenance, modifications and operations project for the Centrale Electrique du Congo.
